CMMN SWDN is at the helm of a new group of young Scandinavian brands and designers. CMMN SWDN: The making of a Scandi fashion brand Safir Bakir and Emma Headlund, the design duo behind the brand CMMN SWDN shared experiences at many international brands – from London’s House of Holland and Swede COS to Seoul / Paris fashion force Wooyoungmi before working with Virgil Abloh for Kayne West. It was while setting up West’s label that they decided to launch CMMN SWDN in 2012 in Sweden.

‘When I was 16 or 18 we used to go to these small clubs in Belgium. The highest ‘wave’ of New Wave was over, but we were still listening to that music in those dark little clubs’, says Belgian designer Kris Van Assche in the AW16 print issue of Something About. Inspired by the night time adventures of Dior Homme’s Creative Director, we shot the Parisian brand’s lauded AW16 collection in the small hours of the day; the morning after clubs have closed and parties are all but hazy memories.

Asger Juel Larsen graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2011, and interned at John Richmond and Burberry Prorsum before launching his own label. He presented his first collection while still in school at 2011 Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Since then he has come a long way – winning a Woolmark Prize, launching the unisex diffusion line A.J.L Madhouse, and picking up the pieces after a fire. Asger Juel Larsen is on the rise.
