Bally Janelle. The rise of Bally‘s buckled super slipper shows little sign of slowing down any time soon, as the brand introduces a full range of accessories inspired by the best-selling design. Launching today, the Janelle capsule collection includes a leather tote and a chunky heeled variety of the shoe – both available in two sizes – and details of the Janelle even made it onto a sporty trainer. If one was to describe the anatomy of Bally’s Janelle, first point of reference would have to go the proudly oversized buckle, a hardware detail first discovered by the Ticino, Switzerland based design team when researching the well-guarded archives. There, the team came across an advert from 1969, setting a black patent leather court shoe with golden buckle against a blush pink background, the model’s leg accessories with a pink silk bow. Today, the buckle crowns the newly launched Janelle heels and bags. A black glitter version of the Heskia trainer sparkles with a Swarovski embellished buckle. A second signature detail is the Janelle’s back, which can be worn up or down, inspired by traditional leather babouche slippers, first adopted by the Bedouins.
