Beach Beauty

Preparing your body for the outside world to see, has to be the worst part of going on holiday. You’ve neglected your feet all winter, hiding them away in your winter boots. Your legs are ghostly white and might even blind small children. Here’s a few of my favourite products that will help turn you into Gisele and are perfect for taking on a flight.Summer-Body-Gloss-3

A good travel sized kit is a great way of keeping your wash bag fuss free. The Aesop London travel set offers a selection of travel-sized products from the Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Skin Care range, essential hair and body care formulations and Aesop’s Mouthwash, presented in an handy black microfibre case. Plus it’s perfect to take on the plane.

But, before you go away, you’re going to want to give yourself a little bit of colour, and that means you need a good exfoliator and moisturiser to prevent you looking like an extra from Towie. Start with a good exfoliator, I love Ren’s
Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm, it will give you the perfect smooth body for summer.  Clarins have brought out the most amazing fake tan, Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster for face and body, you simply mix the self tanner with any moisturiser, so you can build it up slowly which helps prevent patchiness.  I like to mix it with Kiehl’s Creme de Corps which is super hydrating and has achieved a cult following.

Getting your nails in order is essential; I love Essie’s latest collection with loads of pastels and nudes or YSL La Laque Couture Pop Water that are a fun take on clear nails.

Once you get to the beach you need very little in terms of beauty products. Protection is key, but most sunscreens leave you feeling grey and slimey. Susanne Kaufmann sun cream cell protective is the perfect protection against the sun for the face and body. It protects the skin against premature aging with UVA and UVB filters. The light cream is absorbed by the skin very quickly and provides the skin with intense moisture.

When it comes to make up, I like to wear a little bit of blusher and a good lip balm. I’ve been loving Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Sticks in Es Vedra that are perfect for both lips and cheeks. A good lip balm is essential, I love Crème de la Mer’s The Lip Balm which has a lovely matte formula and is great for dry lips.

Keep cool and take care of your skin with a hydrating facial spray. I fell in love with Gazelli Skincare when working on a show at fashion week, this Hydra-Radiance Face Mist can be applied over make-up, used as a toner or a mist. It’s perfect for both the beach and the plane.

And, finally, don’t neglect your hair. If you have coloured hair, you need to protect it from the sun. Try Philp Kingsley – Swimcap Cream containing UV protection, it protects against the damaging effects of the sun which can lead to hair breakage and colour fading, making it a holiday essential. It also deeply conditions your hair as you wear it, leaving it in better condition than before.

When you get back from the beach, it’s all about enhancing that tan and making the most of the beach glow. I love Omorovicza Gold Shimmer body oil, it leaves the skin soft, smooth and glowing. It has subtle gold particles which add shimmer to your body and hair.

A good hair mask will get your hair back in to shape after a long day at the beach, Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer is a cult classic for a reason: it really does work.

When it comes to post-beach make up, I prefer to make the most of my tan and avoid foundation using a combination of EVELOM Flawless Radiance Primer and Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow will give you a flawless finish that’s perfect for summer. Metallics always look good with a tan and these YSL Full Metal Shadows have got me very excited, their creamy formula really packs a punch.

All that’s missing is a great summer fragrance, Frederic Malle COLOGNE INDELEBILE is a current favourite of mine. It’s a splash of the best neroli, intertwined with orange blossom, bergamote, and musk. It’s perfect for heady summer nights.
