Beauty Hall of Fame
Barbie

Barbie also known as Barbara Millicent Roberts is a obvious entry into the beauty hall of fame.  Her on/off again relationship with Ken (Ken Carson), has kept us entertained us since 1961 when Ken first appeared on the scene.  Their first trial separation came in 2004 but by 2006 they rekindled their relationship after Ken had a makeover – she’s not fickle AT ALL.

All though Barbie has her fair share of haters (who maintain she only serves to amplify unrealistic ideals of femininity),  I believe she should be hailed a something of a wonder woman.  She has cared for over 40 pets including cats and dogs, horses, a panda, lion cub and zebra. Owned a wide range of automobiles including pink convertible, trailers and jeeps.  She holds a pilot’s licence, operates  commercial airlines a well as serving as a light attenant.  No job is below Barbie.

Her career has spanned the automotive (Nascar Barbie, 1998), the medical (Doctor Barbie, 1988) and even the intergalactic (Miss Astronaut Barbie, 1965. Where she had time to excel in these professions is beyond me.

Many of these great talents are often overlooked as people tend to focus on her body shape which is forever being scrutinised.  A standard Barbie doll is 11.5 inches tall, giving a height of 5ft 9 inches at 1/6 scale.  Barbie’s vital statistics have been estimated at 36 inches (chest), 18 inches (waist) and 33 inches (hips) which, if applied to real person, would be pretty strange to say the least. But Barbie has struggled on to succeed against the odds, she’s a fighter, which is why I believe Barbie belongs in the Beauty Hall of Fame.
