Jonathan Anderson 2016 Interview

Jonathan Anderson 2016 Interview

Jonathan Anderson launched his own label JW Anderson in 2008 at the age of just 24, and followed this with a capsule collection for women, which was snapped up by Liberty London. In 2012, Topshop came calling, leading to two highly publicised JW Anderson x Topman collaborations which put his label firmly on the map as a youth-centric brand with a discerning celebrity following. Accolades followed in quick succession. That same year, Jonathan Anderson won the Emerging Talent Award for Ready-to-Wear at the British Fashion Awards; at the event the following year, he scooped the New Establishment Award. After the first of these triumphs, the designer received a phone call from Donatella Versace; by the following spring, he had unveiled his first collection for Versus, the Milan house’s younger, kickier line.

Something About Visits The Songzio Studio

Over the course of just a few years, Seoul Fashion Week, the twice annual event taking over the South Korean capital in January and October, has risen to become a colourful platform for some of the most innovative brands. Such is the international interest in the event, that this season homegrown talent such as D-Antidote is joined by travelling guests; both Caruso and Manish Arora feature on the Spring Summer 2017 schedule. With the third day of shows about to start, we joined designer Songzio in his Seoul studio to learn more about the city’s fashion, and how the industry has changed since the brand’s launch in 1993.

Prabal Gurung x TOMS
Exclusive Interview With The New York Designer

“What excites me about collaborating with TOMS is our shared belief in inspiring others and giving back. We’re coming together to make a difference in the world by what we do” Prapal Gurung says of his most recent extra-curricular project. It has been ten years since Blake Mycoskie first set out to build a fashion company based on a ‘One for One’ business model; a charitable concept that sees one pair of shoes given to a child in need for every pair of TOMS sold.

Wardrobe Four

After 25 years working in the industry for the likes of Michael Kors, Céline, Escada and Wolford, Dutch designer Ronald Van der Kemp is a rogue one; he doesn’t create seasonal collections but rather “wardrobes.” His demi-couture label RVDK showed it’s fourth wardrobe at Paris Couture Week, and the one of a kind pieces are available to wear now – but you need to move fast because once they’re gone, there is no recreating them!

Why you need to see Edward Crutchley AW16 Menswear Close Up

London Fashion Week is swiftly approaching, time to turn to some of our favourite homegrown talents. Over a year ago we interviewed Central Saint Martins graduate Edward Crutchley. At that time, he had just debuted his eponymous line with Fashion East and was consulting for Pringle of Scotland and Kayne West while working on textiles with Louis Vuitton’s creative director Kim Jones. After only two seasons he presented AW16 as a stand-alone presentation, which was hosted by no other than Kim Jones.

MSGM’s Chief Massimo Giorgetti interviewed

MSGM’s Chief Massimo Giorgetti interviewed

I’m meeting Massimo Giorgetti, founder and creative director of MSGM, shortly after the death of one of his heroes, music’s ultimate rebel, David Bowie. “He had a beautiful life. Art is like music,” he says of the late singer, whose chameleonic, gender-bending, rule-breaking style continues to galvanise a generation of designers. Massimo Giorgetti could indeed be described as the creative custodian of a trailblazing aesthetic, rebelling against traditional models of fashion enterprise. Massimo Giorgetti founded MSGM in 2009, in partnership with the Paolini Group, with a clear directive to celebrate our internet age. MSGM’s debut collection took the fashion world by storm with its mix of psychedelic prints composed digitally in fluorescent colours.
