Patrick Grant Collaborates with Illustrator

E. Tautz, the nostalgic yet oh so current menswear label designed by Patrick Grant, has coincided the arrival of its Autumn/Winter 2016 collection with ‘COASTERS’, a specially commissioned series of paintings by Indonesian illustrator Ferry Gouw, best known for his work with Major Lazer. The highly stylised, abstract works show figures gliding on roller skates, sporting the loosely cut, ‘80s style tailoring of the new collection – both references to Grant’s upbringing in Edinburgh where he would go to roller discos.

First Look: Lou Dalton AW16 As Worn By Russell Tovey

First Look:
Lou Dalton AW16
As Worn By Russell Tovey

For AW16, Dalton looked to her ‘home away from home’, Shetland, and it’s traditional workwear. The collection can now be seen worn by Dalton’s close friend, the actor Russel Tovey. A recent UK export to the American TV landscape (most recently, Tovey reprised his role in HBO’s drama Looking), the actor models woollen checks, padded in a nod to the gilets worn by sailors on the North Sea. Our favourite is the knitwear, for which Dalton collaborated with John Smedley. There are thin merino-wool sweaters in coloured dyes and a fuzzy mohair knit that’s sure to keep the cold at bay come winter.

Who’s Next/Premiere Classe: The Beirut Shirting Label to Watch for 2017

Paris’ Who’s Next/Premiere Classe trade show sets itself apart with a two tiered approach. For one, its Future Fashions Program – a collaborative effort with online retailer Not Just A Label – showcases the collections of 30 new labels every year. Fifteen brands are then selected to exhibit at the show’s second edition in January, while three final winners (one for each of the three categories that are represented) receives mentoring for a 12-month period. These prize-winners also get a stand at the show for three consecutive seasons, as well as continued support and advice from industry professionals.

Today sees the launch of another, extracurricular project for AMI, as the designer debuts his first collaboration with master chocolatier Pierre Marcolini.

Why you need to see Edward Crutchley AW16 Menswear Close Up

London Fashion Week is swiftly approaching, time to turn to some of our favourite homegrown talents. Over a year ago we interviewed Central Saint Martins graduate Edward Crutchley. At that time, he had just debuted his eponymous line with Fashion East and was consulting for Pringle of Scotland and Kayne West while working on textiles with Louis Vuitton’s creative director Kim Jones. After only two seasons he presented AW16 as a stand-alone presentation, which was hosted by no other than Kim Jones.
