Delvaux Tempête MM Papillon
Making of the 50th anniversary edition

Delvaux Tempête
Delvaux Tempête.
Belgian luxury leather good brand Delvaux celebrates the 50th anniversary of its iconic ‘Tempête’, the bag that was first designed in 1967, with a 150-piece limited edition of Tempête MM Papillon. The interior of each Delvaux Tempête MM Papillon is printed with a special “Tempête 50th anniversary. Limited & Exclusive Edition” mark, hidden from view and only visible to the bag’s owner – much like a sealed birthday card.  This being Delvaux, the Papillon Butterfly motif is neither printed nor silk-screened but created by manually applying five different shades of blue lacquer before the leather is folded over, resulting in a mirror image effect reminiscent of a Rorschach inkblot. When we first saw the Delvaux Tempête MM Papillon, it’s one-of-a-kind print did remind us of the the butterfly prints we made many years ago as a child, painting one half of the page, and then folding it over (yet these bags are definitely a lot more professional than the ‘arts and crafts’ your mum would stick on the fridge). Never before used in the fabrication of leather goods, this exceptional technique is applied to Italian lambskin that is tinted in Ivory with a satiny finish. Each individual design is completely unique and guarantees that no one will have the same Delvaux Tempête MM Papillon.
