Green gingham dress by designer Arthur Arbesser

From Vienna to Milan with Designer Arthur Arbesser

“I LOVE Vienna!” exclaims Arthur Arbesser. “I love it especially from afar”. The tousle-haired womenswear designer, who last September appeared at the finale of his Milan Fashion Week show in faded black jeans, matching T-shirt and trainers, spent his boyhood in the Austrian capital, before enrolling in fashion at Central Saint Martins. Following an offer to join Giorgio Armani’s atelier upon graduation, Arbesser upped and left for Italy. “The move from being a student in London to working in Milan was quite a shock. But after some months and a few too many Negronis, I started to love it here.”

Moncler Spring / Summer 2018 Show

Moncler Spring / Summer 2018 Show Backstage

Thom Browne’s Tale of Two Seasons. Part performance-piece, part tableaux vivant, Browne’s Moncler Gamme Bleu shows have in turn taken over manmade inner-city ski slopes and, in 2009, fanciful military barracks created for the day. For his Spring / Summer 2010 show, Browne invited to Piscina Cozzi, a public swimming pool in Milan first opened in 1934. There were sun loungers at last week’s presentation too, however for Moncler Spring / Summer 2018, models reclined in the centre of a make-shift forest dusted in articulated snow instead of azure blue pools. The forest itself was a product of Browne’s vivid imagination, as palm trees grew next to alpine firs.
