Friend or Faux
The Best Faux Fur Brands

Okay so winter might technically be over, but it’s still bloody cold and with Fashion Week just around the corner we need to stay warm AND stylish. While I’m a fan of real fur, not everyone has the lax morals and big budget it takes to enjoy it. With so many new faux fur brands popping up it seems faux is becoming more desirable than the real deal. So here are my top picks for faking it!

Emma Brew is a favourite of mine, so much so that I styled a special feature on her for Hunger TV. But favouritism aside, Brewin creates incredibly glamorous faux fur coats and shrugs that are expansive and enveloping, giving you a sense that you are dressing up in a giant furry (and incredibly warm) cloud. Even Iggy Azalea, who wears very little, is a fan.

British based designer Charlotte Beecham founded Charlotte Simone in 2011 and designs in both real and faux fur. Focusing on accessories, her pieces offer an instant fluffy update to any outfit. The playful names of her ‘popsicle’ scarves and ‘fruit loop’ snoods sort of make these all the more cuddly.

Launched in 2013 by the British designer Hannah Weiland, Shrimps is leading the way in irreverent faux fur design. Using bright, clashing colours and hi-tech fabrics which are soft to the touch (and warm), the brand features model-of-the-moment Adwoa Aboah in its last campaign, styled by the mega talented Julia Sarr-Jamois. Pretty impressive stuff.
