Kanye West’s Collaborations : From Nike to Louis Vuitton, APC to Yeezy

Kanye West collaborations now build up such excitement that fans queued up outside his East London pop-up shop for 15 hours in order to secure  the chance of getting their hands on the limited-edition merchandise. The Old Street pop-up shop is the first Kanye West pop-up to hit the UK, but it is just one location of 21 worldwide that opened Friday 19, August. All the merchandise is attached to his newest  album The Life of Pablo.

The success of his two day pop-up on Wooster Street in NYC back in March fuelled Kanye West’s global takeover. Drawing large crowds again, he’s selling hoodies, jackets and t-shirts with the lyrics from his album The Life of Pablo.

Kanye West’s merchandise is separate from his Yeezy label with Adidas. In June, Kanye West secured a long-term collaboration with Adidas to secure Adidas as a “Yeezy branded entity,” making it the largest partnership with a non-athlete. The new alliance will expand from streetwear to performance athletic wear. West will be showing the Yeezy Season 4 Collection on September 7, 2016 at New York Fashion Week.

While Adidas may get a lot of buzz right now, this is not the only fashion brand Kanye West’s name has been tied to nor is it his first high-demand sneaker collaboration. He’s partnered with several fashion houses – NIKE, A.P.C and Louis Vuitton – that all proved to be stepping stones towards launching Yeezy with creative director, Virgil Abloh.

We revisit some of Kayne West’s fashion collaborations:

On the topic of Yeezy, Bakir told us, “We could work for hours at end creating, designing and then re-designing the collection to perfection.”

Kanye West revealed on Los Angeles-based 97.1 Amp Radio that he had worked on sneakers for high-end fashion labels without previously taking any credit. “I designed the [Giuseppe] Zanotti sneakers and people don’t know that.
