Keds at 100

From Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn to Mischa Barton and Taylor Swift, Keds plimsolls have remained a wholesome All American classic worn by time’s most cherish All American Girls for decades.

Believe it or not, the brand is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, proving that sometimes it’s the simplest designs that stand the test of time. Even Marilyn Monroe liked to kick about in a pair of navy Keds (she also famously wore them in Fritz Lang’s 1952 movie ‘Clash by Night’).

To mark the centenary, Keds has appointed a special collective to represent the brand’s “commitment to powerful women” counting musician and actress Soko, model Cailin Russo, Ciara (who will collaborate on a design later this year), fellow singer-songwriter Tori Kelly, as well as Girls’ star Allison Williams who features in two short videos called ‘Woman’s Touch’ and ‘Uncharted Territory’ (the latter is the best, see below). Taylor Swift continues to prance and dance in her favourite lace-ups as brand ambassador.
