LFW Models: Gigi, Bella and Hailey Prep London Fashion Week

LFW Models

LFW Models: As NYFW comes to an end, LFW begins and with that London becomes the place to be with the likes of Hailey Baldwin, the Hadid sisters and Kendall Jenner taking over the London Fashion Week scene with their bodies ‘runway-ready’ –  both physically and mentally!

Looking at the LFW Models of the moment, you have to wonder how they prepare themselves for ‘work’… Do they have a quick cramming session? Do they walk around in really tall heels to guarantee there is no chance of making a runway faux pas and becoming the headlines of tomorrows news? Do they diet for months in advance? How frequently do they use their gym memberships? So many questions!

LFW Models: How to get ready for the London Fashion Week runway

How do the ‘it-girls’ get ready for the runway? The industry’s and LFW’s most sought-after model – Gigi Hadid – was first to come to mind. In a new video for her Reebok collaboration, she expressed how much she focuses on becoming mentally ready (for the runway) and how important it is to be in the right frame of mind saying “Before I walk, I usually think of what the designer wants from me, whether that’s an energy or getting into the music or calming myself down with breathing,” she expresses in the video “I have to focus on what my job is that day.

LFW ModelsWith a thyroid disease called Hashimoto’s disease, Gigi doesn’t necessarily want to lose any more weight. She just wanted to “tone up” which she had explained at a Reebok event, and so she took an interest in  boxing as ‘body prep’ saying “When I walk in (to Gotham Gym), it’s like my big brothers. They don’t care about me as a model or what my body looks like. They care that I give a good punch, and that’s how I want to be judged in my athletic space, because that’s what I find pride in.”

Yet another sought-after model, Hailey Baldwin, likes to focus on her diet and commits to an intense detox cleanse saying “It’s like a cleanse that you have to do with like protein powder and all this different stuff and you have to eat a certain type of way,” she explained to PeopleStyle. “I eat healthy regardless but it’s very much more scaled down.” Baldwin is also a fan of preparing herself mentally and physically by keeping track of her sleeping patterns saying “Sleep is such a big one because I think when you’re traveling so much, and you’re running around; you don’t realise how off your body gets.”

Last of all there is of course the other half to the Hadid duo, Bella, who unlike the other LFW models is a little less…strict… when it comes to her fashion week preparation. Although she of of course works out and sister Gigi recently said she has started to do boxing at the same gym (#sistergoals), yet just the other day at a Tag Heuer event, Bella dished to Instyle that generally in preparation she will work out around “3 to 4 times per week,” however with the rush of London fashion week its usually unlikely that she’ll fit in that many workout with back to back shows “It’s kind of crazy because I don’t really like working out,” Bella Hadid said “But, during fashion week, I crave it. Since everythingis so stressful, I’m just like, ‘I want to go workout so badly and I don’t really have time right now.’”

LFW ModelsUnlike the Brunette Hadid’s friend Hailey Baldwin, LFW model Bella reveals her fashion week diet is not exactly what is expected… she explained “You know, I am really bad about fashion week because there’s always such good food,” Hadid says. “So, it’ll be like mini pizzas, sandwiches, bread and croissants … and I go straight to that. It’s because my blood sugar gets really, really low and if I don’t eat, I completely can’t think and I freak out.”  So the answer to Bella’s fashion week diet prep? Carbs.
