London Fashion Week designers 2014

Household name designers were out in strength for London Fashion Week 2014 with the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen staging impressive catwalk shows.
Indeed, there were more than 100 British designers attending the fashion event to showcase their latest collections including Amanda Wakeley, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry and Marios Schwab.
Among the designers grabbing the attention of fashion editors for the creations that stood out from the crowd included Simone Rocha, the daughter of John.
This was also the year that Julien Macdonald hit the headlines with a diamond embroidered wedding dress which was valued at more than £4 million. The British fashion designer staged a popular show featuring the great looking outfits as well as baby doll shift dresses.
Other designers to create a stir at London Fashion Week 2014 include Osman Yousefzada, Marjan Pejoski and Anya Hindmarch’s stylish everyday wear collection proved extremely popular.
British based designers unveiled impressive collections
It wasn’t just British based designers who unveiled impressive collections with Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida from Portugal presenting a flamboyant collection that really caught the eye while Michael van der Ham from the Netherlands also delivered a captivating showcase.
With so many fashion designers vying for attention, it was a difficult year for fashion lovers to determine whose shows they should attend but those who made the effort to see David Koma from Georgia and the Phannatia collection as well as the Zeynep Tosun catwalk show had a real treat.
Other notable mentions for excellent offerings during the week go to Mimi Fasi whose monotone and understated work was highly praised and Hong Kong’s Ryan Lo unveiled an impressive wild west inspired collection.
However, one of the up-and-coming designers Apu Jan made a stir not just in Britain but in Europe and Asia too with his womenswear featuring knitted pieces as did Veronica Basharatyan whose simple and beautiful creations proved to be popular.
Report of the designers at London Fashion Week
No report of the designers at London Fashion Week can go without mention the creative output of Tamara and Natasha Surguladze, who are twin Georgian sisters, for their Tata Naka collection and for the British and French team of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff – Meadham Kirchhoff – who presented an outstanding autumn collection at Somerset House’s Show Space.
Many fashionistas also love the unusual and the prize for this probably went to the Little Shilpa collection with models performing a strange creature of the night routine while making their way down the catwalk.
In addition to famous fashion designers and those trying to make their names, the international stage in London also provided the perfect backdrop for a presentation of a collection of Estonian designers – it was colourful, creative and offered simplified designs of popular western fashions.
For those who attended London Fashion Week 2014 it wasn’t just about the household name designers and the up and coming names with lots of events, workshops and talks as well as popular shops to keep everyone happy and others wanting to make their mark in fashion to do so easily.
