Louis Vuitton: Volez, Voguez, Voyagez in Paris

With men’s fashion week under way in Paris, the Grand Palais’ Louis Vuitton exhibition is attracting quite a throng of monsieurs toting LV monogrammed bags. The exhibition is aptly about travel (the title translates as Fly, Sail, Journey) and more specifically about the evolution of the Vuitto brand as seen through the eyes of adventurers through time, starting with heavy trunks which were used for long journeys at sea, to the more ergonomic ‘carry ons’,  which were first launched with the popularisation of travel by plane (amongst the upper classes of course). There are some fascinating artefacts on display including original Hermes fragrances from the 1920s, as well as some sumptuous antique evening gowns worn by the women who accompanied their husbands on these journeys to far flung lands. During our visit after the menswear shows, we were told by the LV PRs to expect a new Louis Vuitton fragrance next year too…

The exhibition is free at the Grand Palais in Paris andok runs until February 21st.
