NARS x Sarah Moon Collaboration

The NARS x Sarah Moon Collaboration is out now. It is known for offering a pinch of controversy to pink up your cheeks (so to speak). Past pairings include Guy Bourdin and of course Steven Klein with whom the brand threw an S&M party in Yonkers New York to celebrate the launch of the collection last Spring. Summer 2016’s collaboration was considerably more quaint with packaging designed by Greek artist Konstantin Kakanias.

Winter is the Time for the NARS x Sarah Moon Collaboration

Winter marks a step back into the surreal with a new collection. This has been developed between NARS x Sarah Moon, the photographer. The NARS x Sarah Moon collaboration draws its inspiration from Fritz Lang’s seminal 1920s film Metropolis. See the girl on the packaging in the transparent Gaultier-esque corset and headpiece. Make-up wise this collection is led by the reds. Which in cosmetic terms is ‘code’ for the 1920s since actresses had to wear vampish shades to heighten the colour of the their lips on black and white celluloid. Nails are equally bold with femme fatale shades of scarlet. While cheek colours are more shy and pinkish. Metallic and rusty coloured eye shades evoke a sense of cinematic drama. This is very much in line with Sarah Moon’s photography, at once arresting and ethereal. Watch the video below for a submersion into Sarah Moon’s world.
