AMI Alexandre Mattiussi Collaborates With Pierre Marcolini

It has been a busy year for AMI’s Alexandre Mattiussi. In May, the most Parisian of contemporary menswear designers opened his first stand-alone UK boutique in Mayfair, followed by a stellar Spring/ Summer 2017 show set in the scenic – and historically important – Grand Palais. Today sees the launch of another, extracurricular project for AMI, as the designer debuts his first collaboration with master chocolatier Pierre Marcolini. To house Marcolini’s delicious creations, the designer has created a limited-edition box (choose between bottle green or burnt orange) and in the shape of a 1950s television set. The programme? A whimsical Paris street scene with newspaper kiosks on cobble-stoned streets shadowed by Butte Montmartre. Look closer, and you may even spot the two collaborators – Marcolini is captured standing in front of his city centre store, while Mattiussi navigates narrow streets on his scooter. The chocolates, which are safely stored in two pull-out drawers, continue the retro Gallic theme as Marcolini’s all-new Barre² Chocolat bars takes inspiration from the chocolate bars of past decades.
