All About The Collaboration

“Is it an online shop? Is it a dating thing to meet a boyfriend or a girlfriend? There were a lot of questions around the brand”, Alexandre Elicha told us earlier this year, remembering Parisians’ initial reaction to The Kooples‘ first public campaign in 2010. Elisha established The Kooples with his brothers Laurent and Raphael in 2008; since those first images of well-dressed couples appeared on Paris’ city streets, the brand has grown to include 400 global, stand-alone boutiques selling seasonal collections, tailoring, sportswear and special collaborations with actor Waris Alhluwalia and others. Available from June 5th, the brand’s latest collaboration sees The Kooples partner with a German sportswear brand, as Puma X The Kooples launches in-store and online. For their trainer, the brothers looked to Puma’s archive for inspiration. The Puma ‘Clyde’ was first released in the 1970s, in tribute to basketball legend Walter ‘Clyde’ Frazer. Equally suave on the basketball court as he was fronting the cover of fashion magazines, Frazer was known for his penchant for bespoke tailoring, which he accessorised with feathered fedoras and alligator briefcases. Puma The Kooples version of the Clyde is available in black and white, with a signature skull motif at the back.
