Saint Laurent SS16 Welcomes Back the Noughties & Agyness Deyn

If you are going to hark back to noughties punk princesses, what better way to do it than with the original ‘give-a-‘shit’ girl Agyness Deyn, back on the runway by special request of Hedi Slimane.

Having officially quit modelling in 2012, Agyness now has her own fashion label, Title A, and continues to pursue an acting career (her latest role is in Sunset Song by Terence Davies). Despite her ties with fashion, Agy’s appearance on the catwalk was a surprise, especially given her long locks and the fact that she looks younger than she did when she sported her famous blonde crop top seven years ago.

This was Slimane’s celebration of festival fashion and cool Britannia (the sequel, not the Blur/Oasis/StoneRoses glory days; just after the turn of millennium), when Camden was still the place to buy camo gear, Courtney Love looked incredible braless in gold lamé and Kate Moss was swinging from a hammock in Pete Doherty’s filthy apartment.

The models wore tiaras in the manner of 90s rock ‘bitches’ from Hole (another nod to Courtney), but bypass the wellies, the trashy tees and frayed denim, and you have a timeless elegance in the shape of ultra sheer mini dresses and body clinging maxi dresses – quintessentially sexy and a reminder of why the designer chose the title ‘Skin’ as the show title.

Just like Agyness, whose Instagram is about as open and honest as you can get for a famous person (no filter), Saint Laurent is telling you to do what the hell you want.
