Over the last few months, we have literally travelled the world to gather the most important people working in fashion and music for the third print issue of Something About. Because although we are based in London, we produce the magazine for a global audience, with as many readers in the US as the UK. Something About is also picked up in Italy, France and Brazil. While working on this issue, there has been a lot of talk about Brexit; but globalisation has been with us since the Greeks and Romans sold their gold coins for silks and spices to the Orient. And so we also travelled East, to Hong Kong to meet Kris Van Assche, the artistic director of Dior Homme. A modern version of the silk road, the brand chooses a different Chinese city to repeat their Paris show each season. We met skateboarders in LA, took up-and-coming rapper Rejjie Snow to Southend and joined girl group La Luz at the San Francisco stop of their US tour. In London, we shot Oliver Spencer and his friend, music manager Dumi Oburota. Our selection of today’s most promising fashion names work in Paris, London and even Xiamen, China. Globalisation is with us to stay. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
