It’s been a busy few months for the Nikelab team in Oregon: following sell-out collaborations with Kim Jones and Olivier Rousteingthe sportswear specialist has collaborated with a third stalwart of Parisian fashion. The NikeLab x RT: Training Redefined collection applies the detail-oriented vision of Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Haute Couture house Givenchy, to high performance wear. “We can help bring Riccardo into the world of sport performance, which is our expertise. On the other hand, Riccardo’s vision pushed our design to a place we wouldn’t have arrived at on our own” explained NikeLab Senior Design Director Jarrett Reynolds.

“It was interesting…a little bit of a difficult process because to make something that is very dynamic, to do sport and to do activity, and make it strongly recognizable — a fashion statement — is not easy” Tisci defined the collaboration. The second drop of the high profile collaboration takes it’s name from the design’s colourful print. For ‘Kaleidoscope’, Tisci cast Nike’s highly advanced Dri-FIT and Flyknit fabrics in intricate prints. At closer inspection, these reveal to be made up of flowers in full bloom, native to Oregon and Taranto, Italy – Tisci’s own hometown. To honour this year’s biggest sporting event, there are also buds ingenious to Rio de Janeiro arranged alongside the designer’s favoured skull and star motifs. The NikeLab x RT: Training Redefined Kaleidoscope collection will be available on August 11th 2016 at Nike.com/NikeLab and select NikeLab stores.

For the Nikelab x RT Kaleidoscope collection, Tisci enlisted his regular conspirators, photography duo Inez and Vinoodh to photograph gold medal sprinter Sanja Richards Ross alongside world record holding decathlete Ashton Eaton, both dressed in printed wares.
