Sophia Webster Awarded BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund

The British Fashion Council announced shoe designer Sophia Webster as the new recipient of BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund last night at the Bulgari Hotel, London.

Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue and Chair of the mentorship programme, commended the designer, “Sophia Webster is a great winner for this year’s award. The brand encapsulates all the originality and creativity that British fashion is known for while Sophia and her team have pursued a clear vision with drive and professionalism.”

Webster took to the stage to accept a framed sketch of one of her shoes. Elated by her accomplishment, she thanked her team and acknowledged how the £200,000 grant will aid in the growth of her brand. Along with the funding, Webster will also receive 12 months of mentoring. Webster was up against Emilia Wickstead, Mother of Pearl, Osman and Prism.

Previous winners are Mary Katrantzou (2015), Peter Pilotto (2014) Nicholas Kirkwood (2013), Jonathan Saunders (2012), Christopher Kane (2011) and Erdem (2010).
