New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Anna Sui

Like many other looks this season, eyeliner was also the main attraction when it came to the Anna Sui’s makeup. Pat McGrath broke from tradition, keping the look sleek and minimalist, placing a thin line of glitter vertically down the eyelids of the models and leaving the rest of the face relatively bare. This contrasted with the busy floral prints seen in Sui’s collection, and allowed the garments to take centre stage.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends:Chromat

At Chromat, overall appearance was kept natural, with dewy skin and brushed out brows, allowing for bronze lids with occasional pops of orange to take centre stage. Makeup artist Fatima Thomas chose to contrast the orange inner corner to Chromat’s clothes, which introduced of a lot of more muted tones, such as blues and greys.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Fenty X Puma

Rihanna rocked the beauty world last week with the release of her highly anticipated (and already sold-out) makeup brand Fenty Beauty. The designer chose to use exclusively her own brand on the models, focusing intense shimmer all along the cheekbones and on the temples. Using the same shades for highlighter and eyeshadow ties the look together perfectly.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: GCDS

Once again, we saw the natural “no makeup” skin look on the runway at GCDS allowing the beauty of the model’s natural imperfections to shine through. On some of the models, the lids were cut using a single stroke of stark white eyeliner. Matte blue eyeshadow was also used, which tied in well with some of the more playful colours of the collection.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Helmut Lang

Dark lips are a trend normally associated with the winter months, but this didn’t seem to be a problem at Helmut Lang. In a fun take on a classic look, makeup artist Inge Grognard created an ombre effect from the corners of the lips inward, using an almost black shade that broke up the playfulness of the traditional red. A darker edge was also shown using subtle contour around the cheekbones and nose.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Naeem khan

The models at Naeem khans NYFW show had a youthful glow to their skin with a subtle highlight. A natural bushy brow was created with subtle pencilling and grow gel. The lips were bold, with bright berry tones being used to highlight the shape of the lip, especially accentuating the structure of the cupids bow.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Philip Plein

Plein’ glamorous models had both their upper and lower lids lined with thin, black kohl, topped off with a shimmery blue shadow on the lid. The contrast of soft and harsh is a running theme Plein’s collection, and this is shown again on the face of the models. Slightly rosy, glossy lips lend the look the feminine overtone it needs to prevent it from seeming too alien and leaving the face too flat.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Coach 1941

On the Coach 1941 runway, the model’s makeup had a grungy look to it, contrasting with some of the preppier elements of the collection. Matte skin kept the models faces relatively open, with a sharp cheek contour to giving some depth to the face. Models had a subtle bushy brow, smudgy black liner on the waterline, and a simple smoky brown eyeshadow to finish off the look.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Ulla Johnson

The makeup at Ulla Johnsons show was feminine and ethereal. The skin of the models was moisturised giving a “glowing from within” look. The lips appeared plumped with a subtle gold shimmer reflecting the light. A clean white line of eyeliner skimmed the lower lash line of the models, which adds an Avant Garde twist to an otherwise simple look.

New York Fashion Week Beauty Trends:Tom Ford

Pat McGrath works her magic again on the Tom Ford runway (read our review of the designer’s Italian inspired body mist here), transforming the model’s eyes with rounded black shimmer liner. The depth and shape of the shadow obscured the shape of the models lids and dominated the face, giving them all a unified appearance. The windswept hair, in distinctive styles and shades on every girl.
